Welcome to Four By Three! My name is Katie (I also go by Kate) and I’m a photographer based in London. Originally from the southern part of the United States, my husband and I moved to the UK by way of NYC in 2012. This blog sprang up after wanting a home to share the stories from discovering London, my travels and the interesting people I meet along the way. All images are taken by me (unless otherwise stated) and all are shot on film with a myriad of cameras.

A few F.A.Q.s:

What does “Four By Three” mean? As a photographer who shoots film, I wanted the title of this blog to reference that in some way. Most of the time I find myself shooting a roll of 120 film on my Rollei which gives me 12 shots per roll. Back when making a contact sheet was more common, for this type of film you would typically have four rows of three frames (or three rows of four frames depending on your preference), hence Four By Three.

What cameras do you shoot with? Primarily, I shoot with a Rolleiflex 2.8F TLR. Other cameras used are a Contax 645 with an 80mm lens, Leica M6 with either a 50mm lens or a 35mm lens, Rollei SL66, as well as a Lomo LC-A+.

What film stock do you use? I shoot with a range of film stocks that include Kodak Ektar, Kodak Portra 400, Kodak Portra 800, Kodak Tri-X and Ilford Delta 3200.
